Best WiFi Projector | Artlii Energon 2 (Review 2021). Hi everyone, I am back with another projector review that’s right another one this time, we are going big a lot bigger than the mini projector I reviewed a couple of days ago, I mean it’s physically much bigger and weirdly enough, it’s still portable and it even comes with its own carry case so you can take it to your friend’s place for a movie night or game night.
So this is the Artlii Energon 2 1080p Wi-Fi and Bluetooth projector, the Wi-Fi allows you to connect your phone or tablet to the projector wirelessly using your Wi-Fi network, so you can project whatever is on your device like pictures, video games and YouTube, etc and the built-in Bluetooth allows you to connect to a pair of Bluetooth headphones headset or speakers.
So what are the specs for this projector, we already know it’s 1080p and has Wi-Fi and Bluetooth but this projector can produce an image from 44 inches up to a whopping 300 inches which is absolutely insane, you will need a lot of space to get a 300-inch image onto a wall, it has 7000 lux brightness a contrast ratio of 8000 to 1 and an LED lifetime of 55000 hours and lastly, it has built-in stereo speakers for connectivity?
There are ports for VGA, two HDMI, two USBs one for power and the other for a hard drive, and then an AV and headphone jack below, there’s a little trap door for the fan, you would open this up to clean out any dust, you might have once in a while, there is a dial for keystone image correction meaning, If your projected image is still tilted at an angle, you can use this keystone to straighten the image.
In terms of build quality, it’s well made considering the case is made from some kind of plastic aesthetically, it’s well designed, its grey sleek metal light design, makes it look like a high-end quality projector even though, it’s made of plastic, the main features of this projector is the Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity and it will let you stream your device to the projector or play sound for an external audio device to cast your device to the projector.
Wi-Fi and Connectivity
It’s really easy once, you’ve connected a projector to your Wi-Fi network and if you have an android device, you’ll need to select the Mira cast to connect but if you have an IOS device then you can select the option for IOS cast then simply swipe down on your IOS device, select screen mirroring and connect to the Artlii projector.
Now you have a mirror projection of your IOS device where you can do all the usual things when using your device like surf, the web check out your photos or videos or go into YouTube but there are a couple of things to note one is when you try to stream Netflix or Amazon prime video through the projector, it doesn’t work as there is copyright protection that blocks your IOS device from casting.
The stream to the projector, there is a workaround for that you can buy an Amazon fire stick or something similar to be able to use apps like, Netflix and Amazon prime video, simply plug it into the HDMI port for audio and video and power, it via USB using one of the projector’s USB power ports and select source from the main menu and choose, whatever HDMI port you’ve used, now you can stream all your favorite video apps.
The second thing to note is that when you do use IOS cast or stream something like YouTube, I noticed that their projected image size is slightly smaller compared to when you stream content whilst plugged into the HDMI source, it’s not a big deal but I just thought, it was worth mentioning but I guess, if you’re using something like the Amazon, fire stick, it would be a benefit as that would allow you to use all the video streaming apps.
And the projected image would be larger than when using IOS cast, the other main feature is the Bluetooth connectivity that’s easy to set up, you just simply turn Bluetooth on in the projector set up and scan for Bluetooth devices, in my case I will connect to the UE boom once that’s done, I can go to the source that I was playing from and voila, you have sound through the external speaker a small desk or coffee table as it creates an intimate gaming session and you can easily pack up the screen and put it away after playing, so it’s definitely great for that kind of scenario.
We have tested the projector’s built speakers and they actually sound decent for projected speakers with nice sound clarity with good highs, the mids could do with more detail and the bass could do with more bass although,
Video images quality in deferent light condition
Let’s check out the video image this thing can produce, let’s have a look below.
So at an image size of 44 inches, the image is sharp and bright enough to view even in natural light conditions. Although you might want to think about, where you would place a projector as you don’t want it to block your view when you sit behind it, placing it at an angle on a coffee table seems to do the trick as expected.
Once you move the projector further away from the wall, the image looks faded although, I could easily watch casual content like things on YouTube or TV shows in this kind of light, I guess if you really want to watch anything in these bright conditions then it might be worth buying a roll-out or framed projector screen as it would greatly improve the quality of the image, compared to what you would normally see on a white walling fluorescent and warm light conditions.
The image quality looks great it’s sharp bright and vibrant especially at 44 inches at 104 inches the image still looks really good, just not as bright as you would expect it to be when moving the projector further back in dark conditions, the image looks excellent and the brightness is just right at 1080p.
The text is sharp enough to read but it’s not perfectly sharp as you would see from a monitor and at 104 inches, you absolutely feel immersed with whatever you’re watching movies is a pleasure in your own little home cinema.
For console gaming, it’s a lot of fun as I can see myself playing co-op or competitive 4 player games when my friends are over for pc gaming, the colors do look a little desiderated but the sharpness is good as the text is just about readable and you can easily make out where your opponent is as the brightness is decent, I didn’t know as much or if any visual delay when making movements using, the mouse and keyboards.
The response time seems to be good but if you were to play competitive games like, call of duty then a gaming monitor with a high refresh rate is always better for playing casual pc games, the open-world survival game does look awesome, though as it really feels immersive and fun to play on a big projection.
Overall the image quality is really nice for a 1080p projector of this type and the pricing of around 269 dollars is quite reasonable for the quality you get although, I would like to compare it to a high-end 1080por 4k projector to see how much of a difference it would be in terms of quality and features if you guys have any suggestions of which ones I should check out stick in the comments below and I’ll see if I can get my hands on them.
